The Blue Bar and Grill on North Broadway in Yonkers was shut down after repeatedly violating New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s Executive Order regarding max occupancy at restaurants during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Yonkers Police Department says it received numerous complaints about the Blue Bar and Grill and Uptown Bar and Grill on South Broadway over loud music, disorderly patrons, and potential COVID-19 health violations.
After two investigations, police issued summonses for violations of COVID-19 food service requirements and security violations. Tickets were also doled out to cars that were double-parked along Broadway.
A joint investigation between the Yonkers Police and Fire departments also determined that Blue Bar and Grill was in violation of the state’s COVID-19 mandates, and the bar was shut down for license violations.
“We understand that our local businesses have experienced difficulties these past months and look forward to reopening, however, it cannot be at the expense of public health or to the detriment of the quality-of-life of our residents,” Yonkers Police Commissioner John Mueller said.
“The Yonkers Police Department’s primary mission is crime prevention and public safety, and any individual or business that violates the law will be subject to citation or arrest.”
